Explore Asia

I created a Facebook page for a potential travel agency company, Explore Asia.com

I have spent a good portion of my adult life abroad in Asia and am interested in helping others have real travel experiences abroad. With this company, I hope to arrange customized tours to meet individual needs. You cannot see the about section but my short and long descriptions read...

Short:  Travelling with Explore Asia will allow you to discover real people, real culture and have an incredible real life experience along the way.

Long: Explore Asia delivers authentic travel experiences to top destinations within Asia. It can be difficult to pick the right tour package with so many options out there. That is why our passionate and dedicated Travel Consultants have volunteered and worked in Asia; trying out all the activities and sites we recommend. We are here to customize your itinerary and give you the trip of a life time. We offer a wide range of tour packages, including: express, adventure, leisure, luxury, and family friendly.

I focused on the use of visuals to capture the viewers curiosity. The logo is simply a map of the continent in which we offer tours. I choose a cover photo that has elements of nice weather, relaxation and culture. I created a photo album that consists of the top sites that must be seen in each country. I utilized a time-lapse video of images from South East Asia to promote an upcoming event, Travel Talk. The timeline can be used for customers to post images from their trips.

  1. Great idea! I can't see myself taking vacation with a coach full of tourists. I'd love to tour Asia with an itinerary customized for me. If I may make a suggestion, it would be nice if you were in the cover photo on location. People like to get a sense of who they're dealing with. It adds a personal touch to a service built on customization.

  2. Nice page! My sisters recently travelled around Asia, one of which did a tour that lasted a week or two. So I know how challenging it can be for a tourist to plan out a trip in a foreign country.

I have friends in the travel and tourism industry and know that it's quite competitive. As a new business, I think it will be important that you display your credibility and demonstrate how you differ. For example, you mention that travel consultants will have volunteered or worked in Asia. I wonder if you can go above and beyond that and give more detail about your consulates - how long were they in Asia? Where did they go? What was their favourite thing? Etc.

  3. So... for your 'ExploreEurope' business segment when you begin expansion under the 'Explore' umbrella.... remember me... and that I speak English, French, and am learning German ;P

Besides that, I love this! Because travel conjures a range of emotions for people I think this is a general interest that could potentially have significant social media presence, specifically on Facebook! According to Steve Smith, emotions are "the key to increasing likelihood of social media actions" (p. 365, 2013) including comments, likes and shares. It is later stated that 69% of people who are likely to perform a positive action, such as one of those comments, likes or shares, is also more brand loyal over competitors. Creating a positive experience through social media could provide, therefore, competitive advantage!

Try using your positive emotions about Asia to build your content, what did you connect with? How can you relay that for others to connect with? What streams can they connect with? Is there entrepreneurial travel experiences? Is it the markets one might miss if they travelled for vacation?

    Very cool concept!
